Develop the confidence, judgement and practical skills to manage medical emergencies when help is delayed.

Remote & Wilderness First Responder is an immersive six-day programme for outdoor professionals, expedition leaders, guides and remote workers operating where definitive medical care may be hours away.

Incorporating the FutureQuals Level 3 Award in Immediate Response Emergency Care (IREC®), this programme goes beyond conventional first aid. Through realistic outdoor scenarios, prolonged casualty care exercises and complex decision-making, you'll learn how to assess, manage and lead when conditions are difficult, resources are limited and evacuation is uncertain.

Our educational approach is influenced by internationally recognised wilderness medicine competency standards and experiential outdoor learning, helping you develop not only advanced practical skills, but the confidence and judgement to use them appropriately.

Scenario-based practical training includes:

  • Structured patient assessment and clinical decision making
  • Advanced airway and breathing management within scope of practice
  • Major trauma management, including catastrophic bleeding, fractures and spinal injury
