Community Outreach

As a business we believe it is our social responsibility to share life saving skills with as many people as possible. To do this alongside our core business we offer free sessions to schools and colleges for their pupils and students and free talks to local communities. We also offer discounted courses for local people and school staff. First aid can be put into two categories, little sick and big sick. Mostly we deal with little sick, cleaning, plasters, ice packs, chatting, reassurance. However, one in 20 people would not attempt first aid. People worry about making it worse, getting in trouble or there is a lack of confidence.
Should you be faced with big sick, everything changes, time is not on your side. If someone is not breathing, after only 4 minutes there will be brain damage, 4 to 6 minutes later there is virtually no chance of resuscitating them. A person can die within 3-5 minutes from massive blood loss. The national average for an ambulance response for a life threatening call is 8.25 minutes. You will need to bridge the gap. In the 12 months in the UK 42 under 13 to 19 year olds were killed with a knife.
This is not scare mongering, it is the facts.
In a life threatening emergency you must do something and it is not difficult.
